Pellegrino Squillante
Full Professor of Painting and Extra-Media Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples
Pellegrino Squillante, born in the province of Naples (Italy) in 1965, his artistic training began in Naples at the Liceo Artistico and continued at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan) and the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, where he studied Painting.
Since 1993, he has been a Full Professor of Painting and Extra-Media Techniques at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, where he also serves as the Coordinator of the Department of Visual Arts and the delegate for Extra-EU Internationalization. On behalf of the Academy, he coordinates exchange projects with Chinese universities; as an expert lecturer, he has conducted workshops at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts (TAFA) and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT). He also teaches Painting within the double-degree Master’s program at Fujian Normal University and has lectured at various Chinese universities since 2016.
He curates and produces numerous events focused on the artistic output of students at the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples. In 2012, he launched EXTRALAB NAPOLI, a platform involving his students in the creation and coordination of public events in collaboration with various agencies and institutions. Since 2015, he has served as an expert evaluator for the Higher Education in the Arts system for ANVUR (the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research System).
As an independent artist, his research and experimentation explore the relationship between humanity and nature, the artist’s consciousness regarding ecological and environmental dynamics, and the use of "other" materials and philosophies in artistic production, investigating the intersection of experience and method. He has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions both in Italy and abroad.
He lives and works in Naples and Caserta.
