This Agora Session brings together two institutions that are developing new audiences for contemporary art in Indonesia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia: Museum MACAN and Art Jameel. Learning is at the heart of both institutions’ thinking and collaboration as they work to nurture open and connected communities and encourage critical thinking, dialogue, and debate about national and cultural diversity. This session will focus on youth-oriented programming and hybrid learning models, drawing on the following case studies:
Hayy Learning (Art Jameel) is a community educational platform for artists and creatives based in Saudi Arabia. Through bespoke courses, workshops and public talks, Hayy Learning nurtures talent, skills and knowledge development, across art, film, theatre, music and beyond. The programme is delivered at Hayy Jameel, Jeddah and online.

The Assembly (Art Jameel) is an experimental programme (Dubai, UAE) designed to foster creative leaders aged 18 to 24 and enable peer-to-peer exchange of ideas, discussions and to prompt self-initiated projects that utilize Art Jameel’s networks and opportunities.

Children’s Art Space (Museum MACAN) is an artist’s commission and exhibition project specifically made for the Museum, developed in collaboration between an artist and Museum MACAN’s Education Department. As both an artistic presentation and an educational engagement, each commission project demonstrates distinct thematic and material explorations.

School Outreach (Museum MACAN) is a bespoke workshop/tour/art courses program for students and educators. Students in all levels of institution (early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, vocational, special needs – formal and non-formal) will get access to the Museum’s exhibitions and collections. It develops contextual materials and enhances a student’s experience of art, by illustrating the intersection of a student’s lived experience with the ideas behind the art. Following the shift to Virtual Outreach, the program has enabled a diverse audience reach across the archipelago.

The webinar will be in English language.
