EDI exists to build a dialog between institutions and professionals working to dismantle barriers between the public and art through considering new approaches to art education. Class is a clear and challenging barrier when it comes to art education – even if scholarships are available, how do we reach potential newcomers to the field of art? If we reach them, how do we enable that they can participate and thrive within the framework of the art school? While this working session cannot possibly come up with all of the answers, it is a safe space to share challenges and techniques to surmount them in hopes of developing collaborations that push back against the class barriers limiting our field.
