October 20, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Virtual Event Virtual Event

The Morra Greco Foundation is pleased to present the first online discussion panel of the EDI Global Forum for Education and Integration project.

The session will connect two case studies of translocal art mediation initiatives aimed at engaging first time art visitors, one study from the Pinacoteca di Brera e Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense in Milan, Italy (presented by James Bradburne and Devorah Block) and one from the Dhaka Art Summit in Bangladesh (presented by Ruxmini Reckvana Q Choudhury and Tarana Halim) that was developed with the Kochi Muziris Biennale and Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art in India and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland (presented by Rachel Mader) with the support of Pro Helvetia: Swiss Arts Council. While the session will present techniques that have been successful in engaging large and growing audiences who are new to contemporary art through facilitating transnational encounters across art, artists, and the public, this session aims to bring to the fore what could be done better and to speculate about what kind of tools could be developed to allow art to reach more widely and deeply in society, surmounting class and cultural barriers. We invite people interested in this topic to join in on the discussion with the panelists and digital audience at the end of the session.
