EDI GLOBAL FORUM: THIRD EDITION OPENS AT FONDAZIONE MORRA GRECO

Starting today and running until March 20, Naples hosts three days of international discussions on the future of museums and visual education. Greetings from Fitto and Giuli.

The third edition of EDI – Education Integration Global Forum, the leading international forum dedicated to museum innovation and the role of cultural education in contemporary society, has officially opened. The event takes place in Naples from March 18 to 20, 2026.

The opening session featured contributions from: Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, via video message; Onofrio Giustino Angelo Cutaia, Regional Minister for Culture of Campania; Chiara Marciani, Councillor for Youth Policies and Employment of the Municipality of Naples; Maurizio Morra Greco, President of Fondazione Morra Greco; Sylvain Bellenger, General Director of EDI Global Forum; and Christian Larsen, Executive Director of EDI Global Forum. The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, also sent his greetings.

Promoted by Fondazione Morra Greco with the support of the Campania Region, EDI Global Forum brings together museum directors, curators, artists, educators, researchers, and cultural professionals from around the world to discuss new paradigms in art education and the public role of museums.

For its third edition, the Forum welcomes to Naples an international network of 94 cultural institutions from 23 countries, including some of the world’s leading museums—from the Metropolitan Museum of Art to Tate, from Prado to Centre Pompidou, as well as the National Gallery Singapore and MASP in São Paulo—confirming the city as a key hub for international debate on the future of cultural institutions.

The theme of the 2026 edition is: “How can we learn to look at images critically?”, a reflection on our ability to interpret and understand images in the age of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and disinformation. Through panels, conferences, workshops, and exhibitions spread across the city’s main cultural venues, the Forum fosters an interdisciplinary dialogue among museums, universities, artists, and researchers on the role of visual education as a fundamental civic skill.

As part of the cultural program of EDI Global Forum, the exhibitions “Il sole come un gatto” by Diego Perrone and “emoZone” by Manfred Pernice, hosted at Fondazione Morra Greco, will be open to visitors until July 4, 2026.

At 5:30 PM, again at MANN, one of the most anticipated events of the Forum will take place: the keynote by Glenn D. Lowry, Director Emeritus of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, titled “I Want a Museum. I Need a Museum. I Imagine a Museum”, focusing on the transformation of the contemporary museum and its role in society.

Starting from the opening day, the first parallel sessions of EDI’s international workshops have also begun. These involve museums, universities, and cultural institutions from around the world in laboratory activities and shared experimentation focused on visual education, accessibility, and new museum practices.
