In this Agora event, Futuress co-directors Maya Ober and Nina Paim will discuss the broadly understood notion of diversity, looking particularly at a series of articles published by the platform called Complaint Collective, which examines abuse and discrimination in design education. Racist, misogynist, transphobic and homophobic, ableist, and otherwise discriminatory incidents and practices within art and design education are indeed not isolated but structural. Drawing on lived experiences of students, educators and activists, as well as the scholarship of the ever-inspiring feminist author Sara Ahmed, they will discuss experiences, strategies, and tactics to address these systemic issues within institutions. Futuress is a feminist platform for design politics, a hybrid between a learning community as well as a publishing platform.
